Useful tidbits and a glimpse into me as a person.

Howdy-hi, howdy-ho!

The festive season is truly upon us now, hopefully you're prepared (although if you work in the retail sector, I know that no amount of preparation will save you when the gates of hell open up on the 24th of December).

My helpers will be at Marion Markets this Sunday (21st December) provided they can get a site, otherwise they'll be at Christies Beach market.

I thought I'd share a little bit about me, given it's the season of sharing. My helpers have reported back that a few people have been curious about my race (and in some negative circumstances, have even refused to purchase a book because they believed I was Islamic).

Firstly, I am Australian. I was born here and even though I'm descended from immigrants, I am Australian.

Secondly, I'm not religious, nor do I have any intention to become so. Not that there's anything wrong with being a member of any particular faith, but I have my own belief system that works well for me.

However, in clarifying these few aspects I would like to point out, that these things shouldn't matter. An individual's faith, heritage and even nationality, does not make one inferior or superior to anyone else, nor does it define them as a person. Personally, I've met some wonderful people from all walks of life, some who were Muslim, Christian, Hindu and Buddist. I've also met others of the same faith who were just plain horrid people. Their background and faith had little to do with the type of person they became. Their actions and attitude was a result of their choice alone.

There's a quote by Pentti Linkola that's applicable to this:

"I could never find two people who are perfectly equal; one will always be more valuable than the other. And many people, as a matter of fact, simply have no value."

As Pentti's quote suggests, high value people are rare, but they do exist and I can guarantee if you are lucky enough to meet them, you won't find them being hateful or prejudiced against others.

Have a safe and happy festive season,

Yalmact
