I know … it’s been far too long since I last blogged. To make up for it, I’m having another ebook giveaway! From the 14th until the 19th of September Mad Town from The Fynian Fable is available for free download at Amazon (Link below).
So, what have I been up to? Well, you might find this strange but I’ve been writing (I know … a writer writing … who would have guessed?). I have to say it feels absolutely amazing to immerse myself in a new plot and become acquainted with new characters. It’s a euphoric high, and best of all, it costs nothing for each hit (it’s all organic, man).
For every writer the creative process and experience is different. For myself, often a story comes from an experience. Generally I observe something that pisses me off or really fascinates me, and from there a main character starts to form. I do catch little glimpses of the people in his/her life but it isn’t until I sit down and start to write that everything becomes concrete. I can honestly say that I don’t know exactly how the plot will end. It might sound loopy because they’re born out of my imagination, but it’s the characters, not me, that ultimately dictate what happens. Chances are if you’ve read something of mine that had an unexpected twist, I was feeling just as surprised when I wrote it.
Right now, I’m working on something that I thought would fall under mainstream fiction. However, the more I write, the more my lead character takes me into subculture that the majority of the population know little about. Even my characters are a little more jaded than I intended. I’m very curious to see where this will end up.
I won’t comment further about my current project given it’s still early days, but I will eventually update this blog with more details.
Sadly, I will leave off here because it has taken me a ridiculously long time to write these few paragraphs. In my defence, I am currently at work on nightshift and have been up for about 24 hours straight (Damn you, nanna-naps! Why must you
elude me when I crave you so much?). Hopefully, I’ll be out of this job soon as there is that ever present threat that I’ll stab myself in the eye with a pen.
Remember Mad Town is free, share the link below and spread the word!
